Thoroughbred Horse Racing - On the Back StretchAs the horse race develops and the horses enter the back stretch, sometimes a horse will begin to make a move on the back stretch, only to be blocked behind a wall of horses in front.
The horse and or the jockey are unable to find any running room, and the horse subsequently will lose several lengths and will drop out of contention.
Now the successful horse race handicapper who is paying attention will note such trouble and will decide whether or not the horse would have run well if there had been more room to do so.
In the case of a horse that begins to accelerate strongly on the back stretch and begins to make a passing attempt, only to get shut off, a horse race handicapper might assume in future races, that the horse is a contender if he has the running room.
Horse race handicapping is not an exact science, as seen by this example, but the horse race handicapper who takes notes and analyzes the races and knows the horses by name and or running style will have a distinct advantage. Much the same as a Football coach or player watching hours and hours of game film of the opponent.
Horse racing handicapping and wagering, although a legal form of gambling, does not guarantee that the risk of losing your money has been eliminated; even in a Stakes Race.
Always wager with money that you can afford to lose, do not violate your money management rules, and do not be greedy, there will always be another horse race to wager on.
Fact: Only 2% of all horse race handicappers actually make money wagering.
