the Big Apple is Missing in New York

When the Nose of Curlin edged Street Sense at the wire
at the Preakness, the apples at the Belmont were quickly
being shipped to Saratoga and Monmouth Park.

Yes, there will be no triple crown race winner this year,
but the race will go on without the Kentucky Derby winner.

There has never been an instance of the same horses
running
1-2-3 in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness and
then meeting
in the Belmont Stakes.

Undoubtedly Street Sense, Curlin, and Hard Spun are at
the 'Head of the Class' for 2007. Street Sense has, however
been withdrawn from the Belmont and will be training for the
larger apples at The Travers Cup in Saratoga on 25 August
and the Breeder's Cup Classic at Monmouth Park on
27 October.

Thus, the door is open for all challengers who initially did
not want to compete against the hungry Street Sense for
the Big Apple at the Belmont.

Stay tuned, because Dark Star will probably give us his
2 cents (sense) next week on the 2007 Belmont. He nailed
the Trifecta at the Preakness for a handsome payoff.

In the interim, the following Video will give you some
real perspective on the true greatness of the late
Secretariat.
