Horse Race Handicapping College - [Masters].

We have been receiving some great email questions at the Horse Race Handicapping College, and those questions were the focus of our recent Monthly Master's Webinar. Wagering Strategies with the upcoming Breeders' Cup were also discussed.

If you haven't joined the Master's Program yet, now is the time, as the Daily Spot plays have been performing very well, (see some of the previous posts).

You will learn how to play our "game" properly and become one of the winning 2% that do!

Visit the College Now

Full Day Training Seminars will be offered in the near future as well.

One of our Master's Members has used that training to consistently apply what she learned in February. She has learned how to determine value and to apply the principles of what she was taught per the spot plays to determine where value and top percentage of bankroll play is put to the best use.

Finally Horse Race Handicappers have an option to cash
Winning Tickets this winter.

Horse Race Handicapping College - [Why?].

I started the Horse Race Handicapping College site because of the tremendous amount of emails I received from players who had read my first 2 books and wanted to continue to learn more about handicapping and wagering.

There are also many players that like to receive a few spot plays each day and I offer that service as well.

For those of you that are skeptical, I understand that, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion. But, I can assure all of you that I work my butt off in this business to succeed, I put my name out there for everyone to see, and I think that my clients have been happy with my efforts.

I have taught a number of folks to handicap and wager and when they improve and actually WIN SOME WAGERS (something they weren't doing in the past) it is quite a rewarding feeling.

First Online Horse Race Handicapping College Opens.

Confirmed by many sources...

The Premier Online Horse Race Handicapping College has officially opened.

With the opening of http://www.horseracehandicappingcollege.com/, now for the first
time professional handicappers have decided to do something to help change the
fortunes of struggling horse racing fans. Statistics show with alarming consistency
that 98% of all players betting on horse racing lose money every day at race tracks
across the U.S. and abroad. All of that is about to change for both the casual and
everyday horse player.

Fortune 500 investigations analyst Dr. Robert Miller recently reviewed the members
area of Horse Race Handicapping College. He had this to say: "Although the
opportunity to learn from professional handicappers is extraordinary in the horse
racing industry, the idea of offering exotic wagering picks as a product of the
curriculum is innovative...

Congress Exempts Horse Racing from Online Gambling Laws.

By law, wagering on Horse Races is not gambling and it is legal!

With that in mind, if you have an interest in the exciting "Sport of Kings", especially if you live in the United States, then you could not be living in a better time...a time when Horse Handicapping and wagering is considered legal! Not only is it legal, but also very easy to establish an online wagering account and place wagers.

Historically speaking, going to the race track and placing a wager, has always attracted the dedicated horse player.

Fast forward to the age of the internet, and the sport is attracting more than the dedicated horse player of years gone by. Placing a wager in the convenience of your own home, without having to go the track, has attracted more and more horse players. Technology has made it possible for a rapid rise in the online wagers placed day to day, especially for big name days such as the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, Belmont Stakes, Breeder's Cup, etc.

The convenience of online horse race betting brings a new level of ease to the scene. With online horse race betting, you do not even have to get off your couch in order to place a bet on a race. Some people find it uncomfortable and time consuming to go to the track. Spare time is a very precious commodity indeed. However, the fact remains that the race track is where the action happens. If you want to participate in the action, then you need to go to a race track. Or do you?

Online horse racing betting is getting more popular because it actually enables people to actually enjoy the thrill of a horse race without the inconveniences of going to the track.

Online betting on horse racing helps people bypass the problem of time. Through online horse race betting, people who want in on the action only need to spare a few seconds to get online and bet on the horse of their choice. After that, they can continue doing what needs to be done and bearing the burdens that must be borne.

Because of the increasing development of technology in the areas of connectivity, people today can utilize online horse race betting anywhere in the world. People today can make use of their mobile phones and other tech gadgets to bet.

Quality education is the cornerstone of everything. Become an educated player or continue to be just another player, placing a wager in the hopes that a hunch or a tip pays off this time.

Receive that education on how to become a better horse handicapper or possibly a Professional Handicapper at The Horse Race Handicapping College, the only online Horse Handicapping College. Thru a series of Online Webinars, books, DVD's, 1 on 1 consultations, etc. you will become a more educated player and know when and how to place that next wager online or at the track.
___________________________________

When the rules changed last year for Online Gaming and Gambling - October 2006
- The U.S. Congress, through the passage of the bill severely restricted online gaming in the USA.

All forms of online gambling were smothered overnight, making it illegal to participate in online gambling entities, if you live in the U.S.A.

Many still fail to realize that placing wagers and or betting on the outcome of a Horse Race is exempt from this law.

By law, wagering on Horse Races is not gambling and it is legal!

Horse Handicapping...Historically Speaking

Horse Handicapping is cyclical in nature and historical data is the proof. Time and time again, you will see the same set ups and opportunities. The ability to learn from your handicapping successes and failures, and using those experiences to evaluate what is in front of you at the racetrack, you will have a significantly greater chance of profit. Historically speaking there are ten handicapping angles that appear on a regular basis.

1. Horses That Break Through the Starting Gate
Horses that break through the starting gate before a race begins, will always use a lot of energy, usually guaranteeing a very poorly run race. If a horse that breaks through the gate figures prominently in the wagering it is an ideal time to immediately step up and bet against that runner. Although this has proven to be an exceedingly strong wagering angle, you will have a limited time, approximately thirty seconds, to secure a wager.

2. Top Ranked Jockeys and Trainers
If you bet only to Win, (not recommended), then only bet jockeys and trainers to win that visit the winner's circle on a regular basis. It is more likely that a good jockey or trainer will turn around a poor horse, than a good horse will benefit from a negative jockey or trainer switch.

3. The Tote Always Tells the Story
Carefully watch the Horses that are favored in the doubles or pick-three wagers...if they open up at long odds on the tote board, they are usually bad investments. The public will naturally knock down the price before the wagering is over. Beware...don't be suckered in on this classic sucker wager.

4. Betting Longshots to Win and Show
Each wager that is placed for a longshot to win, must also include that longshot to show as well. Historically speaking, if you wager on longshots, then this is the only way to play it. You don’t want to miss this opportunity, if the longshot just misses the wire.

5. Limitations of the Public Handicapper
Always recognize that public handicappers send in their selections 24 to 48 hours in advance. They are missing the advantage of seeing the current weather or track-bias. To be a winning player, you must learn to take that into consideration, after looking at the choices of a promising handicapper.

6. The All Button
Players should only utilize the All button after 2 conditions are met...The player is dead set against the favorite in a race and there are a few longshots in the race. Remembering that using the all button can become very expensive for those attacking the pick-four or pick-six. Also remember to apply money management rules for this one.

7. The Clocker and the Workouts
The Clocker knows the truth about the workouts, because they have viewed them first hand. The average player does not have the ability to compete in this area. Thus, the gravity of actual money on the tote board far outweighs any workout, especially with first-time starters.

8. Streaking Jockeys
One of the oldest historical plays around the racetrack says that once a Jockey wins 2 races on the same day, you should bet him to win a 3rd. For a number of reasons, Jockeys can get on a good roll, especially apprentices. Bet the hot jockeys, day-by-day and week-by-week.

9. Reversing Exactas
Wagering and expecting to win exactas can be frustrating. Historically, picking 2 horses from an entire field to finish in exact order is difficult at best. Reversing your exacta plays, even if it's only a small insurance bet is the play of experienced and seasoned handicappers.

10. Beware of the Tip
The best Historical Tip of All...There is no such thing as an inside tip. Insider information and the tip from a stranger is for fools. You're far better off handicapping to the best of your ability. Falling prey to this tactic will lead to failure as a handicapper.

the launch of the new ...

Rags to Riches at Belmont...First Girl to Take the Prize Since 1905

102 year winning streak is over.

Boomer, Dark Star, and the Diamond Eagle all predicted the Cinderella at the
Kentucky Oaks would outduel the
boys in New York.

I am sure that Street Sense, the Kentucky Derby winner, was glad for the
earlier decision to sit this one out. Curlin may
still be the pick of the litter, but
boy that girl can run. And run she did!

What an exciting stretch run as Curlin appeared to be positioning for
the win.
Rags to Riches had other plans, as she flat out just out-ran the favorite. This
fast filly outdueled Curlin in a breathtaking stretch
run and won the Belmont
Stakes on Saturday, becoming the first lady in nearly a century to take the
final leg of the Triple Crown.

Rags to
Riches even spotted the boys at the start with a slight stumble and
then became the third filly to capture the Belmont.

Ruthless took the first
running in 1867 and Tanya won in 1905. Only 22 fillies
have ever mixed it up with the boys at Belmont, with Rags to Riches, the first
since
Silverbulletday, who finished well out of the money in 1999.

This was a guy/girl thing and the girl took the prize. Rags to Riches is now the
undisputed winner of the Belmont Stakes. Now the Queen of Racing will
undoubtedly continue her quest as the dominant Filly in other featured races
this year.

Did you know that this girl has not been beaten this year?

No triple crown winner this year, but all three races lived up to their
expectations.

Three Races....Three Champions.

Off to the Races....the Diamond Eagle

Jockey Vince Guerra Records his 3000th Career Victory in Arizona

The Home Run Record in Baseball is a milestone that will be broken this year, and has already received plenty press. Horse racing fans have already witnessed history this year and are ecstatic. When one of the really good guys in the sport reaches a milestone, there is reason for celebration. That guy I'm referring to is Arizona native, Jockey Vince Guerra.

Vince recorded his 3000th career victory this past week at Yavapai Downs, and as the saying goes, "it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy". Our heartfelt congratulations goes out to Vince. I love baseball, but Barry Bonds cannot hold a candle to the integrity that Vince brings to horse racing. Boomer and Diamond Eagle Handicapping, DEH, tip their hats to Vince!

Vince will not be at Belmont on Saturday, but a darling filly will be there mixing it up with the boys. The last time a filly won the Belmont Stakes was way back in 1908. This year, Rags to Riches, the filly, goes for her 4th straight Grade 1 victory and 5th overall, and certainly figures to get plenty of attention at the mutuel windows across the country.

With Street Sense not in the field, the early favorite Curlin may not win by a nose this time. This may be a girl-guy thing and I am picking the darling in the 1 1/2 Mile showdown. The Big Apple, Street Sense, will be watching, as the Girl takes the prize.

Post made possible by Boomer.

01 June 2007

the Big Apple is Missing in New York

When the Nose of Curlin edged Street Sense at the wire
at the Preakness, the apples at the Belmont were quickly
being shipped to Saratoga and Monmouth Park.

Yes, there will be no triple crown race winner this year,
but the race will go on without the Kentucky Derby winner.

There has never been an instance of the same horses
running
1-2-3 in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness and
then meeting
in the Belmont Stakes.

Undoubtedly Street Sense, Curlin, and Hard Spun are at
the 'Head of the Class' for 2007. Street Sense has, however
been withdrawn from the Belmont and will be training for the
larger apples at The Travers Cup in Saratoga on 25 August
and the Breeder's Cup Classic at Monmouth Park on
27 October.

Thus, the door is open for all challengers who initially did
not want to compete against the hungry Street Sense for
the Big Apple at the Belmont.

Stay tuned, because Dark Star will probably give us his
2 cents (sense) next week on the 2007 Belmont. He nailed
the Trifecta at the Preakness for a handsome payoff.

In the interim, the following Video will give you some
real perspective on the true greatness of the late
Secretariat.

Again, the Crown Doesn't Fit

Again, the Crown Doesn't Fit
by Dark Star

Street Sense is the third straight Kentucky Derby
champion not to win the Preakness.
Six of the past 11,
and 10 since Affirmed in
1978, had a shot at becoming
the 12th Triple
Crown winner. All have failed in Baltimore.

Saturday's classic had more story lines in
the race, and
some before, to fill a book on
the middle race of the
Triple Crown series.

Did the weather play a part? What was the effect of the
turf disaster two races before
the Preakness was run?
Did speed spoil
it for Hard Spun and was jockey
judgment
a critical factor?

Just how many goggles should a jockey have in
reserve for a very clumpy track
soaked by rain in the
final hour before
post time?

Curlin's photo finish victory Saturday was a stunningly
brilliant performance. The colt
had come into the Triple
Crown series with a
lack of experience that figured to be
beyond
his capability. And history was not on his side.

Looking back, Curlin had a rough trip in the
Kentucky
Derby that might have taken a toll
even on a seasoned
thoroughbred. At Pimlico
he appeared to be hopelessly
beaten in mid-
stretch when he unleashed a powerful
acceleration in the final yards rarely exhibited
in classic
stakes races to take the crystal vase.

Street Sense proved again that he may indeed be the
class of his generation. Again as he did
in the Derby,
jockey Calvin Borel held him back
well off the pace in
the early going. And again
at Pimlico he demonstrated
an explosive gear
blowing by the field and catching
the lumbering
Hard Spun and the frisky Curlin to take
what
looked to be a commanding lead.

What did the impact of running out of goggles play for
Calvin Borel with horses still in front
of him heading
down the home stretch? He
carried a rack of five and
apparently needed
six to finish the race. Having to
squint the
final yards may have cost him the vision he
needed to notice Curlin coming back to challenge. He
appeared to be coasting when
he needed to be driving
toward the wire only
to lose in the final stride.

How much did the weather play a part in this 132nd
Preakness Stakes? It was a mild day
in the low 70s at
track side when the clouds
rolled in and unleashed
some serious sprinkles
that seemed to have an adverse
affect on the
track condition. Two races before the
running
of the Preakness, over on the turf course it was
a disaster of the worst kind.

Mending Fences broke down in the early stages of the
Dixie Turf Stakes and Curlin's jockey
Robby Albarado
aboard Einstein stumbled over
the downed horse and
fell to the track. A ghastly
buzz went through the in-field
as Albarado was
taken to the ambulance, but reappeared
shortly
reporting to be fine and ready to ride again. The
fallen horse was euthanized on the track with a
broken ankle.

One can watch hundreds of races at every level of the
sport without seeing a horse do the things
that Curlin did
in the last half mile of the Preakness.
He stumbled a bit
at the start and was unhurried
in the early stages while
moving to the inside.

He angled out leaving the first turn and again was un-
hurried while being four wide along the back
stretch.
Curlin closed the gap from far outside
leaving the far turn
and circled five wide to reach
contention approaching the
quarter pole.

Continuing to lag lightly behind Street Sense in the upper
stretch who had come from 8th to blow
by the field to take
the lead, Curlin dug in under
strong urging nearing the 8th
pole. Then he battled
back gamely under right-hand
encouragement to
get up in the final stride. An amazing
performance.

So what happened to Hard Spun, my personal pick to take
the Preakness Stakes? As Xchanger and
Flying First Class
ran each other into the ground,
Hard Spun appeared to be
in a perfect position,
sitting in third place stalking the leaders.

But Mario Pino made an ill-judged premature move to fly past
them as his mount reached the 6 furlong
mark in 1 minute
9.8 seconds - one of the fastest
fractions ever in the Preakness.
Hard Spun would
soon be proven burned out in the stretch run.

The stage was set for the top two betting choices, Street Sense
and Curlin, to make their moves.

Curlin with the urging of Robby Albarado made the first move
charging past the tiring Hard Spun. But
then Calvin Borel drove
Street Sense inside Curlin
and shot past him opening a lead
of nearly two
lengths. "I thought I was home free" Borel said.

Indeed, the Preakness appeared to be over, horses almost
never re-rally after being passed so decisively.
In a matter of
minutes the racing world was going to
be speculating about
the prospects of Street Sense
sweeping the Triple Crown.

But Curlin wasn't finished. "He has that way about him that
he just wants to win" Albarado said. And
the rest is history,
or is it?

With the same three horses dominating the first two legs of
the 2007 Triple Crown campaign, the Belmont
promises to be
a stage of epic proportions. Will it be
evidence for Street
Sense to claim future horse of the
year honors? Or will Curlin
stake his claim to fame?
At a mile and a half what will become
of Hard Spun?

Curlin's Nose Wins the Preakness

After 5 starts, Curlin has won 4, including the rematch
with Kentucky Derby winner...Street Sense.

Even though Calvin had the Street Sense, it was
Curlin by a small nose at the wire.

Both horses were well back in the field of nine as
they rumbled down the backstretch, but
as the race
unfolded, it looked as if Street Sense was on his way
to Belmont with 2 down and 1 to go for the coveted
Triple Crown.

But Curlin was up to the rematch and had the Derby
winner in his sights.

Although jockey Robby Albarado was thrown from his
ride, in 3 races earlier, he was able to use the the home
stretch in the Preakness to his advantage and used his
closing speed to notch a win.

Bottom line....the best horse won today and another
year will pass before another attempt to go 3 for 3.

Another great day in the storied history of the Preakness
and Pimlico.

No Repeat for the Derby Feat

Exclusive Release for the Diamond Eagle

No Repeat for the Derby Feat
by Dark Star

Street Sense proved beyond a shadow of a doubt
that he is the top 3 year old in America following
his amazing feat at the Derby soundly defeating his
19 rivals at Churchill Downs.

He will be a strong favorite to win the Preakness
on Saturday. But the buzz on the backstretch has
many serious handicappers wary of betting on the
champion this time. In fact, he is the type of favorite
that gamblers love to bet against.

Street Sense had a perfect trip on the rail last time
out as everyone moved aside to let him through.
He's not likely to get the same breaks this time even
with a smaller field.

History has proven time and again that Pimlico
stumps the Derby winners most of the time.
Trainer, Carl Nafzger, spent months getting Street
Sense
ready for his maximum performance pointing
toward the Derby - just as he
had done with
Unbridled in 1990.

Unbridled scored one of the most powerful Derby
victories ever, but he lost both the Preakness and
Belmont Stakes. In fact, he didn't win another
stakes race until October.

So who does that leave to challenge at the wire
this Saturday? Curlin looks to be one of the most
credible and will get plenty of support in Baltimore.

He had only three races in his career coming into
the Derby. He won them all impressively, although
his lack of seasoning figured to hurt him in a 20
horse scramble. It probably did and required a
credible effort just to finish third.

Can he make up the eight lengths he lost to Street
Sense? That would require a huge leap forward
in ability, not likely in a classics stakes race like
the Preakness.

Dark Star is focusing on Hard Spun to end the
Triple Crown aspirations of the Derby winner.
He's a very serious threat with a 5 for 6 career
record coming off an impressive performance
at Churchill Downs.

He dueled for the lead into the first turn at a fast
clip, outran the three other speedsters who were
pressing him and lost by only two lengths. The
Preakness is a sixteenth of a mile shorter, leaving
less time for the Derby winner to catch him.

Never in the Preakness do winners come from so
far off the pace as happens frequently in the Derby.
This race is setting up nicely for Hard Spun to put
a decisive pasting on the field and earn a blanket of
black-eyed susans on Saturday.

Does the Preakness Make Sense?

It has been 29 years since the last Triple Crown Winner.

Smarty Jones in 2004 made the last valiant attempt to
win...back to back to back since Affirmed in 1978.

3 years later, we are all smarter, but will Pimlico have
the Sense?

The odds are not in the favor of Jockey Calvin Borel
and the popular Street Sense.

Street Sense is a great horse, but I have to be realistic.

He is no Secretariat, Affirmed, or Smarty Jones for that
matter.

Pimlico, the site of the Preakness, is 110 yards shorter
than the Kentucky Derby and opens the possibilities
to be a very exciting and fun to watch Horse Race.

Early speed and closing speed will be the factors
that get the most attention and action at the window.
The exotics may be the real story at the wire.

Street Sense has the ability to come from nowhere,
but may be challenged by Curlin, a Kentucky Derby
favorite and looking for payback, and Hard Spun.

Sedgefield and Teufesberg are also getting action.

Weather does not seem to be a factor this year.

Although Street Sense has touched the senses and
hearts of a lot of people and Horse Racing needs a
new Hero, I feel that he will need more than the rail
to win this $1 Million Dollar Race.

If Street Sense emerges as the winner in Pino
country, he will have had the aid of a "Wing
and a Prayer".

Bottom line....it's a Horse Race and on any
given Saturday your favorite could win.

Have fun, pick wisely, and may you profit.

Horse Handicapping in Perspective

The following video does not mention Horse Handicapping.
It does; however, give a very good perspective about the
world in which we live.

On a different note...

Will Street Sense ride the rail to a Preakness victory?
I will post my thoughts later on this subject.
